THE WARRIORS - Written by George Arthur Bloom Transcribed by Bill Hiers SCENE 1 - The Planet Crystal. A toad mining operation is underway. Enslaved beavers, overseen by toad guards, use crowbars and pickaxes to pry loose chunks of glistening crystal, which they load onto a conveyor belt that carries it to be dropped into wheelbarrows by more beavers. They then carry them onto a huge toad storage ship. Toadborg stands at the base of the ship. TOADBORG Faster, you mindless mammals! It will soon be too dark to mine these precious crystals! The good ship Righteous Indignation comes into view above the quartz mountain. Bucky O'Hare and Jenny are at the console on the bridge, Blinky and Bruiser behind them, all looking down, disgusted. JENNY Just as we thought. They're gutting Crystal Peak. BUCKY (into intercom) Flex your phalanges, Deadeye, we're gonna shock some toads and save some slaves! The Righteous Indignation peels away to attack. Elsewhere in space, the toad mothership looms. On the bridge, the Toad Air Marshall is observing events on a viewscreen, Frix and Frax on either side of him. A Toad Tech, sitting at the controls, turns to them. TOAD TECH The Righteous Indignation has entered Sector Fourteen, sir. AIR MARSHALL Perfect! Prepare ships for launch! Employ the Single Helix formation! Frix looks worried. Suddenly, the Air Marshall holds up two fingers. AIR MARSHALL No, make that *DOUBLE* Helix! FRIX But Air Marshall, the Double Helix is a very dangerous maneuver! AIR MARSHALL So what? It's got style! I could get the Diamond Medallion for this one! Attack! Two rows of a dozen Double Bubbles come out of the mouth of the mothership and veer off. The first row attacks Righteous, which takes a hit between the engine room and the cannon turret, jolting Deadeye. DEADEYE Cap'n, they're playin' Ring Around the Righteous! He returns fire. Up on the bridge, Jenny frantically presses a button. JENNY The engine's not responding, Bucky! BUCKY Shift to auxiliary power! In engineering, smoke fills the room. Willy is using a fire extinguisher to put out the flaming equipment as Blinky looks on. Willy fans the smoke away. BLINKY Terrible news, Commander! Afterburner on fire! Back on the mothership, the Air Marshall, Frix and Frax are still watching the viewscreen. AIR MARSHALL Now, watch this! Frix and Frax look worriedly at one another. FRAX Uh-oh! The first row of Double Bubbles serpentines around the Righteous Indignation, clockwise. The second row joins in and begins encircling the mammal frigate, counter-clockwise, cannons firing. The Air Marshall grins. AIR MARSHALL This maneuver will go down in the history books! Suddenly, a Double Bubble going clockwise loses control and smashes into one coming counter-clockwise, setting off a chain reaction in which all of the Bubbles begin randomly crashing into one another until none of them are left, their pilots all ejecting. The Air Marshall is furious. FRAX I told you it was dangerous! AIR MARSHALL Shut up! He smacks Frax aside. On the surface of Crystal, the Righteous Indignation swoops low. A toad anti-aircraft cannon fires upon them, as the enslaved beavers take this opportunity to make a break for it! One uses his crowbar to smack a guard on the head, knocking him down, and they hurriedly run aboard the storage ship. Ignoring them, Toadborg takes over the anti-craft gun, shoving its gunner aside. TOADBORG I'll skin your hide, Bucky O'Hare! He opens fire on the Righteous Indignation as it approaches, but misses. The return blast from Deadeye doesn't, and the cannon explodes, flinging Toadborg back several feet. Undamaged, he sits up, shaking his fist angrily. TOADBORG You cannot destroy me! The beavers finish boarding the toad ship. The ramp closes and it takes off, flying side by side with the Righteous Indignation. The two beavers piloting the vessel look over at Bucky who smiles and gives them a thumbs-up. BUCKY Mission accomplished, station crippled, slaves freed. SCENE 2 - The bridge of the toad mothership. Komplex appears on a giant wall of TV screens, each making up a part of his face in a mosaic fashion. The Air Marshall and Toadborg stand before him. Frix and Frax are also present. KOMPLEX You are incompetent, inefficient, ineffectual, inept and incapable of carrying out one single mission without some monumental blunder! The Air Marshall is shaking in fear. AIR MARSHALL (stammering) D-D-D-Does that mean I don't get the Diamond Medallion? KOMPLEX It means you are no longer my air marshall! AIR MARSHALL No! You can't! What about all the good times? Like--Like when I snuffed out the insurrection on Croacus! Or--Or when I led the invasion of, uh- - KOMPLEX (cutting him off) Toadborg, relieve him of his medals! TOADBORG As you command, Komplex. Toadborg walks over to the Air Marshall and begins stripping him of his medals. The Air Marshall can't bear it. He protests loudly, and is soon in tears. AIR MARSHALL Ah, ooh, oh, no, no, not that one! Please! Oh, nooooo! There is one medal left on his uniform. KOMPLEX Stop! TOADBORG But there's still one left! KOMPLEX Leave it. Let it be a reminder of what it was like to serve me. Grinning, the Air Marshall gets down on his knees. AIR MARSHALL Oh, thank you, Komplex! Thank you! Thank you! He rubs the remaining medal happily. TOADBORG Have you selected a replacement? KOMPLEX Anyone would be better than him. He suddenly looks over at... Frix and Frax! KOMPLEX Even them! They look around, confused, then grin and point at themselves. FRIX and FRAX Us? The Air Marshall is horrified. AIR MARSHALL How humiliating! SCENE 3 - An arcade on the Planet Sludge. Several shady-looking individuals, mostly reptilian, are playing video games. The (ex-) Air Marshall is sitting at a table in the back, a glass of green liquid in front of him. A cockroach crawls up the wall behind him. AIR MARSHALL Ah, seems like only yesterday I was in charge of all the toad troops everywhere. Now I'm in charge of... nothing. Seated across from him is Sly Leezard, a blue-skinned frilled lizard in a red and yellow Samurai getup. He also has a drink. SLY Mmm, you think you have problems, huh? My name's Sly Leezard. Back on my planet, if you're going to get anywhere as a Samurai, you have to conquer another world. AIR MARSHALL (unimpressed) So what? I've conquered dozens of worlds. SLY Oh? But you haven't conquered Canopus III, land of the four-armed ducks! AIR MARSHALL (still unimpressed) What's so tough about that one? SLY Kamikazee Kamo, the ninja duck. Cue a flashback. Sly Leezard and Kamikazee Kamo, the aforementioned Ninja Duck, do battle on a hilltop on Canopus III. SLY (voiceover) Every time I try to take over his planet, that despicable drake gets in my way! Kamikazee knocks Sly's sword out of his hands, then kicks him and knocks him down. Sly winds up lying on his back, and Kamo plants his foot triumphantly on the defeated lizard's chest as the flashback ends. SLY Hmm, if only I hadn't lost my best scientist. He had a plan to drain that planet dry! He pounds his fist angrily on the table. SLY He was building evaporation satellites. Without warning, Sly draws his sword and leaps onto the tabletop, spilling his drink. SLY Haiiii-yah! He swings the blade, narrowly missing the startled Air Marshall and slicing the cockroach that was on the wall behind him. He then leans over and licks up the bug's slashed remains. Sheathing his sword, he steps down off the table. SLY We... had a little disagreement, and I finished him before he finished them. You know what I mean. He chuckles darkly, and the Air Marshall gets to thinking, stroking his bulbous chin in thought. AIR MARSHALL So, all you need is one lousy scientist and you can conquer Canopus III? Hmm, this could get me my medals back. He points at Sly. AIR MARSHALL Look, here's my offer. I get you one scientist and you let me share in the glory. SLY Okay, but I'm going to be the king! Got that? AIR MARSHALL Deal! They shake hands. SCENE 4 - Willy and Deadeye work on the exterior of the Righteous Indignation at a repair dock. They are both wearing spacesuits, Deadeye with a bubble helmet and Willy with his battle suit's. They're being watched by Sly Leezard and the Air Marshall from Leezard's lizard- shaped hover craft nearby. Sly is peering through a telescope of sorts. AIR MARSHALL His name's Willy DuWitt. He's some kind of weird mammal who works for that mangy Bucky O'Hare. Sly looks up from the telescope. SLY And he can complete my satellites? AIR MARSHALL *OUR* satellites. SLY (chuckles) Don't miss. The hover craft banks down, towards the space station. Completely unaware of the impending danger, Deadeye and Willy continue their work. Willy is working on the area that got hit earlier, using a blowtorch. WILLY Engine took a pretty good hit. It's gonna be a while before the Righteous Indignation can fly again. Deadeye, meanwhile, is using a rag to give the gunner's station viewport the old spit 'n' polish. Sly's hover craft silently moves into position above them. DEADEYE Eh, them two-bit tadpoles made a mess here, too. Can't blast 'em if I can't see 'em. Suddenly sensing that something is amiss, he looks over at Willy. DEADEYE Willy? Look out! It's too late. A grappling claw grabs Willy around the waist and yanks him off his feet. He drops the blowtorch. Deadeye runs over and grabs for Willy's feet, but misses, and the boy is hauled up to the waiting hovercraft. Sly Leezard and the Air Marshall are visible in the cockpit. WILLY Deadeye! The Air Marshall yells down at Deadeye. AIR MARSHALL Kiss Canopus good-bye, Deadeye! Willy is pulled completely inside, and then the hover craft rockets away. SCENE 5 - In the space station's control a few minutes later, a distraught Deadeye is hurriedly explaining what happened to Bucky and the others. DEADEYE Toad Air Marshall was with Sly Leezard, the worst of that slimy bunch a' creepy crawlers. Bruiser, holding a half-eaten banana, is furious, and getting more and more riled up by the second. BRUISER (angry) Well, ain't nobody gonna mess with our little buddy Willy! Let's get 'em! Come on! Before anyone can move, Bucky holds up a finger. BUCKY Hold it! First of all, we don't know where they took Willy. Second of all, the Righteous Indignation can't go anywhere yet. Deadeye, meanwhile, notices a small one-man cruiser docked outside. DEADEYE I've got me an idea. I'm gonna borrow that one-man cruiser and pay a visit to an old friend of mine. He knows Samurai Lizards better than anyone. SCENE 6 - Cut to the beautiful countryside of Canopus III at sunrise, lush with green plants and flowers. The one-man cruiser lands in a grassy area and Deadeye gets out, walking into a nearby grove of trees. Suddenly six ropes fall around him, and red-clad Ninja Ducks slide down and surround Deadeye, swords drawn. DEADEYE (nervously) Heh, easy there, mateys. I mean no harm. I'm lookin' for Kamikazee Kamo. SCENE 7 - Cut to a ninja training ground sometime later. Kamikazee Kamo, the ninja duck, walks through a group of ninjas-in-training who are performing martial arts exercises. He wears black, and both of his lower arms have been replaced with cybernetic ones. He suddenly notices Deadeye being held by two of the Ninja Ducks who caught him earlier. KAMIKAZEE Deadeye! DEADEYE Kamo! KAMIKAZEE Release him! He is my friend. The two Ninjas comply, and Deadeye rushes up to his friend and they exchange a special four-handed handshake. Deadeye's upper hands shake Kamikazee's lower cybernetic ones; Kamikazee's upper hands shake Deadeye's lower ones. DEADEYE Ah, matey, yet be a sight for these old eyes. KAMIKAZEE (laughs) Aye, and you to mine, Deadeye. DEADEYE I'm here 'cause somethin's come up, and we need your help. Our ship's mired in dry dock. KAMIKAZEE Oh? Come, we talk. Taking Deadeye by the arm, he leads him off through the training grounds as the Ninjas continue their exercises. Deadeye explains things as they walk along. DEADEYE Toad Air Marshall has teamed up with Sly Leezard, and--and they snatched me shipmate! He suddenly has to duck a stray sword swing from one of the trainees. DEADEYE (nervously) Whoa! He recovers and continues. DEADEYE Ya gotta help me find 'em! KAMIKAZEE Sly Leezard, eh? He also ducks - without looking - a wayward swing from one of the Ninja Ducks with a sword. KAMIKAZEE I know where to find him. We leave now, for Saurian, where the Samurai Lizards dwell. SCENE 8 - The Planet Saurian. A sharp contrast to Canopus III, it is nothing but rocks and there is no sign of life. The Obelus, a tall rock formation with a flat top that is a mile high, is Sly Leezard's lair. Inside, Willy is in a laboratory of some kind with Sly Leezard and the Toad Air Marshall, as well as other Samurai Lizards. These guys dress identically to Sly, except for the lack of chest armor. Several partially-completed evaporation satellites can be seen around the room: they are round and in two hinged-together halves. WILLY No! I won't do it! SLY But I give you my word I'll let you go as soon as you finish the evaporation satellites. He holds a hand to his chest in an oath-taking gesture. SLY A Samurai's word is his bond. WILLY I don't care! I won't do anything to hurt Deadeye's home planet, no matter what you do to me! Stepping forward, Sly puts a hand on Willy's shoulder. SLY Suppose... I told you I planted an explosive on the hull of the Righteous Indignation, and that I could detonate it simply by pushing *THIS*? He suddenly whips out a small green cylinder with what appears to be a red button on the top. His thumb hovers threateningly over the button. Willy gives in. WILLY Wait! Don't hurt 'em! I'll... do whatever you want! Sly grins. SCENE 9 - Kamikazee Kamo's two-person duck-shaped ship flies down and lands on a desolate plateau. Deadeye hops out, followed by Kamo. Kamikazee has in hand two small black bundles, one of which he hands to Deadeye. Deadeye inspects his. DEADEYE What have we here, matey? KAMIKAZEE Do as I do. He unfurls the bundle into a hanglider with a wooden frame with two small handles on the underside. Deadeye follows his example, unfolding his. Holding his glider up over his head, Kamikazee walks up to the edge of the plateau. KAMIKAZEE Now we fly like the wind! Deadeye follows him, and appears to be more than a bit nervous about the idea of leaping off a cliff. He stares down at the rocky valley below. It's a long way down. DEADEYE Wait, I can tip a tankard with the best of 'em, a--and blast the eye from a needle, but one thing I don't do is *FLY*! KAMIKAZEE Ah, to be a Ninja, you must lift yourself to a higher power! Come. He jumps off. The wind immediately catches his glider and lifts him up. Deadeye follows. DEADEYE This one's for you, Willy! He gets buffeted by the wing, and flies around uncontrollably, yelling and hanging on for dear life. DEADEYE Whoooaaa...ohh...ohhh...ohhhh! Kamikazee flies down and lands gracefully on his feet. Deadeye crashes and tumbles along the ground, winding up in a sitting position with his crumpled glider wrapped around himself. Kamikazee comes over and begins helping him untangle himself, as two Samurai Lizards appear in the background. They do not go unnoticed by Kamo. Deadeye finally manages to extract himself from the remains of the glider, panting. DEADEYE We... reached a higher power, matey? He tosses the glider aside and two more Samurai Lizards drop down onto a boulder beside them, and two more nearby. Four more suddenly appear and tackle Deadeye, grabbing his arms and shouting. SAMURAI LIZARDS Kill those mammals! DEADEYE Let go, ya sneaky salamanders! Two *MORE* appear near Kamikazee, and one of them draws his sword. LIZARD #1 Surrender, or suffer the wounds of the Samurai! Eight of the Samurai surround Kamikazee Kamo, while the other four haul Deadeye to his feet, each one holding an arm. He struggles against them, grunting. DEADEYE There's eight a' you, and only one a' him! Let loose a' me arms so we can have a fair fight, here! KAMIKAZEE This *IS* fair, Deadeye! He whips out a pair of nunchucka and spins them around, quacking loudly, psyching himself up for the fight. KAMIKAZEE Quack, qua-qua-qua-quaaaaaaack!!! He slings the nunchucka and they wrap around a Lizard's sword, yanking the weapon from his grasp. A second Samurai Lizard attacks him from behind, but a spin kick knocks him out cold. Four more Lizards jump down and charge at Kamikazee, swinging their swords. He ducks and flips the first one over his back, then socks the second Lizard in the stomach with the handles of his nunchucka. The Samurai stands there there a moment, dazed, and then Kamikazee kicks him aside. The third Lizard runs up, and the mechanical hand on Kamikazee's cybernetic right arm turns into a big plunger and grabs him by the snout. He throws his sword aside, grabbing Kamo's arm and tugging, trying to free himself, and then he's thrown aside. The fourth Lizard watches him go flying past, then runs at Kamo and swings his sword. Kamikazee catches the blade, then swings it around with the Samurai still holding onto the handle, like a propeller, finally releasing him, sending him flying. KAMIKAZEE Quack, qua-qua-quack-quaaaaaaack!!! Deadeye is still being held by two of the four other Samurai Lizards. Deadeye manages to wrench his arms free and bangs their heads together. The collapse, and he goes over and stomps on a third's tail, making the guy drop his sword, jump up, and yowl in pain. He then whips out his maser pistols, twirls them around, and begins firing on the Samurai who turn and start running away. Kamikazee whips out a metal star, and flings it towards a Lizard who is lagging behind. It hits him in the base of his tail, and he stumbles forwards and falls face-first onto the ground. He lays there twitching as Deadeye walks up to him. DEADEYE Where's Willy, ya lily-livered reptile? Where is he?! SCENE 10 - Back on Planet Crystal, the quartz mountain is being mined again, this time by several porcupine slaves. Frix and Frax, overseeing them from a cliff, are wearing new uniforms. They have divided the Air Marshall's confiscated medals between themselves. A lizard-shaped is parked nearby. (NOTE: This is a blooper. The ship should be a toad ship!) FRAX (giggles) We must be bringin' back enough crystals to last an eon! Frix yells down at the slaves. FRIX Move it, you mindless mammals! Komplex is waiting for this precious cargo! He turns to Frax. FRIX How was I? FRAX The part about mindless mammals was good. I think we can be even more insulting. SCENE 11 - Back on Saurian, Deadeye and Kamikazee climb up the side of the Obelus. They're about halfway up. In the Obelus laboratory, the evaporation satellites are on a conveyor belt moving past Willy. Every so often, the conveyor will stop, allowing Willy to open the top of the satellite and adjust the instruments inside. He finishes the last one, closes it, and turns to Sly Leezard and the Air Marshall who are standing nearby. WILLY Done. AIR MARSHALL I told you, he's a genius! Sly motions to three other Samurai by the door. SLY All right, transfer the satellites to the ship. They hurry over. Each grabs a satellite, then they carry them from the lab. WILLY Can I go now? SLY Go...? WILLY You promised. You gave me your word of honor as a Samurai. SLY Honor is for fools. It means nothing to me. Take him away! Another Lizard steps forwards and grabs Willy, and begins dragging him away. WILLY Wait! What about the explosive on the Righteous Indignation? Sly looks confused and turns to the Air Marshall. SLY (innocently) What explosive? AIR MARSHALL You mean there isn't one? What about that--that-- Sly laughs and takes of the green "detonator" from before, holding it up for him to see. SLY This? It's nothing more than candy. Have a piece. He tosses it over and the Air Marshall catches it and examines it. The red "button" on the top turns out to be a piece of red candy, which he tosses into his mouth and eats. AIR MARSHALL Mmmm, cherry! It's good! Sly cackles maniacally, then turns to Willy, pointing. SLY (darkly) To the caves! Willy is dragged out. Outside, Deadeye and Kamikazee continue their climb up the side of the Obelus, inching their way across a very narrow ledge beneath the peak. Pausing, Deadeye bangs his fist on the rock, then feels around along them, looking for an entrance of some kind. DEADEYE This rock here is hard as a ton of titanium! Can't nothin' be inside here! Back inside, two Lizards take the next-to-last satellite off the conveyor belt in the lab and carry it off as Sly and the Air Marshall watch them. AIR MARSHALL It won't be long before I'm Air Marshall again. SLY Mm-hmm, and I, king of Canopus. The flat top of the Obelus splits and begins to open, rumbling. Deadeye and Kamikazee reach the top and crawl forwards and peer down, seeing a hangar of some sort at the bottom. A lizard-shaped ship, larger than Sly's hover craft earlier, is on a launching platform. Kamo turns to Deadeye. KAMIKAZEE Keep them occupied! I'm going down! He jumps off the ledge. Deadeye draws both of his masers. DEADEYE Aye, laddie! I'll distract 'em! He runs over to a different portion of the ledge, and aims down with his masers and begins to open fire. Three Lizards are carrying a satellite to the open mouth of the ship when Deadeye's blasts hit the ground near them. They let go of it and run off in different directions; the satellite spins around in the air until a blast hits it and destroys it. Deadeye continues firing as other Lizards run around in the hangar in panic. The sounds of the fighting can be heard from the lab, where Sly and the Air Marshall are. AIR MARSHALL (stammering) E--excuse me, I-- I'd like to stay, but I have a spaceship to catch! He grabs the final satellite off the conveyor and carries it from the room as Kamikazee Kamo jumps down and lands in front of a surprised Sly. They both take stances and begin jumping around, sizing one another up. SLY So, we do battle again. Kamikazee twirls his nunchucka around, over shoulder, around his neck, between his legs and behind his back in an impressive display. KAMIKAZEE Our *FINAL* battle, this time! Both he and Sly draw their swords and charge at each other and clash their blades together. Back out in the hangar, Deadeye continues raining fire down upon the Lizards. The Air Marshall comes running out, charging across the hangar carrying the final satellite over his head. The Samurai throw stars up at Deadeye, but he ducks the first volley and then blasts the second to bits. The Air Marshall gets into the ship and seats himself in the cockpit. The mouth closes, and then the launching platform tilts up and back, aiming the nose up towards the opening in the hangar ceiling. It blasts off, shooting off into the sky as Deadeye shoots at it uselessly. Back in the lab, Sly and Kamikazee's battle continues. They trade a couple more blows. SLY It's too late! Kamikazee swings his sword, but Sly jumps. SLY The satellites are being launched! He leaps at Kamikazee, who dodges, letting Sly fly past him. Sly hits the floor and does a roll, winding up in a standing position over by the launch controls for the satellites. A large digital time clock is counting down from 50. He points to a large switch; the activator lever. SLY In just a few seconds, I'll pull this, and Canopus III will be sucked dry! SCENE 12 - In space, the Air Marshall arrives over Canopus III in Sly's ship. He laughs and takes his hat off, waving it in the air wildly. AIR MARSHALL (singing) Rain, rain, go away! You'll never come another day! He cackles and presses the ejector button on the controls in front of him. The satellites are launched from the bottom of the ship. SCENE 13 - Back in the Obelus lab, the digital clock is now counting down from thirty. Sly and Kamikazee continue to fight. The Samurai Lizard stands holding his sword. Kamikazee runs at him, quacking loudly. KAMIKAZEE Quack, qua-qua-qua-quaaaaaaack!!! He lets fly with his nunchucka and they wrap around the blade of Sly's sword. Kamikazee yanks it out of his hands and then kicks him in the chest, knocking him down. Eighteen seconds left on the clock. Sly recovers, knocks Kamikazee down, grabs his dropped sword, and flings it at Kamo. Kamo steps aside deftly, then catches it by the handle as it sails by. KAMIKAZEE Prepare to join your ancestors! Qua-quaaaaack!!! He advances on the unarmed Sly, who backs up towards the timer mechanism. Fourteen seconds left. SLY Wait! I... yield! I won't throw the switch! He shakes his head back and forth wildly. Eight seconds left. Kamikazee steps closer, pointing Sly's own sword at him! KAMIKAZEE Why should I trust you? Sly falls over backwards and Kamikazee comes over and stands over him. Five seconds left! SLY On my honor as a Samurai! I swear! He crosses his fingers. Kamikazee, not seeming to notice, releases him and backs off. KAMIKAZEE (sighs) All right. A Samurai's word is an unbreakable bond! The clock now reads zero, the clock flashing. Sly gets to his feet, panting. SLY You won't be sorry. He narrows his eyes at him. SLY Then again... maybe you *WILL*!!! He throws the switch! Kamo is furious! KAMIKAZEE You have violated the Samurai code of honor! Sly just grins and shrugs indifferently. SLY Look, nobody's perfect. Kamikazee grabs the switch and begins trying to force it back up, but can't. SLY By the way, that switch is irreversible! Sayonara, sucker! He turns and runs off, leaving Kamikazee struggling with the lever. SCENE 14 - The evaporation satellites are in orbit over Canopus III. They power up one by one. They each have three lights on the bottom, which emit three beams of intensely hot light down upon the helpless planet, causing heatwaves. Leaves die and fall off of tress, water dries up, color drains from the lush, colorful flowers, and they dry up, turning into dust. The Air Marshall watches all of this from the ship above. Pleased with himself, he leans back in the seat and kicks his feet up on the control panel. AIR MARSHALL Komplex will be so impressed, he'll probably make me *GRAND* Air Marshall! Down on the surface, a duck reading the newspaper floating in an inner tube in his pool yelps as the water level begins decreasing rapidly. The satellites continue pounding Canopus with their heat-rays. SCENE 15 - Back on Saurian, Deadeye stands on the rocky rim of the Obelus hangar. DEADEYE Give up, ya larcenous lizards, before I blast ya into tomorrow! The Lizards throw some more stars at him, but he shoots them all out of the air and laughs and twirls his pistols before he resumes shooting. DEADEYE They don't call me Deadeye for nothin'! The Lizards finally decide to flee. One of them presses a button, causing a small hatchway to open up in the floor, and they begin going down it one by one. Deadeye hops down from the top of the hangar opening, landing on a smaller ledge, and then grabs a handy rope and swings down to the floor, Tarzan-style. The last of the Lizards goes down the hole, and Deadeye tries to follow, but the hatch closes before he can and he slams into it. DEADEYE Cowards! He shakes all four of his fists angrily, as Kamikazee comes running up to him. KAMIKAZEE (dejected) Deadeye, the satellites have been launched! Canopus III is doomed! DEADEYE Not yet, it ain't. He takes out a small radio transmitter. Extending the transmission antennae, he speaks into it. DEADEYE Come in, Bucky, it's time for a little Righteous Indignation! We cut back to the repair station where the Righteous Indignation is docked. Bucky and Jenny are on the bridge, and the former flicks on the radio. BUCKY What do you need, Deadeye? We're ready to roll. DEADEYE (over the radio) Listen carefully, Cap'n. Here's what ya gotta do, and ya gotta do it fast! The Righteous Indignation blasts off from the dry dock and shoots into hyperspace. Back on Saurian, Deadeye puts the communicator away and turns to Kamikazee. DEADEYE Any luck findin' Willy? Kamikazee shrugs hopelessly. KAMIKAZEE None. DEADEYE Eh, we're wastin' time, matey. Let's start lookin'! He motions for Kamo to follow and they run off. SCENE 16 - Frix and Frax stand on board a toad storage ship headed back from Planet Crystal. Toad pilots are flying the ship. The bottom of the ship has a big glass observation window through which they can see the Righteous Indignation passing beneath them. FRIX You see what I see? FRAX It's the Righteous Indignation! FRIX We have a chance to do what Toad Air Marshall never did! Destroy Bucky O'Hare! FRAX But this is just a storage tanker. We don't have any weapons. FRIX We *ARE* a weapon! We're ten times bigger than that dinky ship down there! They don't even know we're up here! He turns to the pilots. FRIX Prepare for vertical deceleration! The toad ship moves towards the Righteous Indignation. One of the crew turns back to them. TOAD CREW MEMBER Ready for vertical deceleration, sir! Frax is growing increasingly worried. FRAX Remember... the Double Helix? FRIX Relax, Frax, this is nothing like the Double Helix! He turns back to the crew. FRIX Decelerate! The toad ship nosedives, heading for the Righteous at breakneck speed to ram them. On the bridge, Bucky sees them on a small screen as alarms go off. BUCKY Toads! Evasive action! The Righteous suddenly dives down, out of the path of the larger ship, and suddenly Frix and Frax scream as they see they're headed for a huge asteroid! The ship hits and explodes in a big fireball, flinging debris and chunks of crystal through space. However, Frix and Frax both managed to make it to a small escape ship in time, and Frax watches the crystals go drifting past them. FRAX Look at all those precious crystals! Gone! How are we ever gonna explain it to Komplex? FRIX We won't tell 'im! They turn and quickly fly away. FRAX What about the ship?! How do we explain *THAT*? Meanwhile the Righteous nears Canopus III with its ring of evaporation satellites. JENNY Canopus III, dead ahead. BUCKY And so are those evaporation satellites. They're all yours, Bruiser! Bruiser is sitting in the gunner's station in place of Deadeye, gripping the firing controls. BRUISER Yeah! I'll blasticate 'em, erasticate 'em, and if that ain't enough, I'll... extirpatate 'em! He opens fire. The blast hits the nearest satellite, only to be deflected off harmlessly, stopped by an invisible forcefield. More blasts have the same effect. JENNY They're protected by some kind of forcefield. Bucky, what are going to do? Bucky looks uncertain. BUCKY That's a very good question... SCENE 17 - Deep inside the Obelus, Deadeye and Ninja Duck make their way through a craggy cavern. DEADEYE (calling out) Willy! Willy, where are ya? WILLY Deadeye! They run over and find Willy imprisoned within a "cell" of sorts, with stalagmites for bars. He appears otherwise unhurt. Deadeye draws one of his masers. DEADEYE Stand aside, matey. Willy moves back further into the little cave, and then Deadeye shoots the bars, destroying them. Willy emerges from inside. WILLY We've gotta get back to the lab! DEADEYE Too late, lad, the satellites have already been launched. KAMIKAZEE And activated. WILLY But I've got a way to deactivate 'em! Come on! They run out and return to the Obelus laboratory in short order. WILLY I built in a self-destruct mechanism in every satellite. Getting down on his hands and knees, he gets underneath a table and removes a small device hidden there. Getting back out, he shows it to them, standing up. WILLY All I've gotta do is activate the detonator. With this in hand, he goes over to a row of television screens mounted on the wall, displaying the satellites at work over Canopus III. He presses a button on the detonator. Cut to Canopus III, where the satellites begin to randomly explode one by one. Bucky and Jenny look on from the bridge of the Righteous Indignation. DEADEYE (over the radio) Bucky, it's Deadeye. How's the view up there? Bucky grins excitedly. BUCKY A site to behold, Deadeye! Deadeye laughs. Sly Leezard's ship is still in the vicinity, and from the bridge, the Air Marshall watches in horror as the satellites all continue blowing up (NOTE: For some reason there is a Toad Pilot with him, in full uniform and everything). AIR MARSHALL My plans are ruined! My triumphant return is trashed! He wails in agony. With the satellites destroyed, it begins raining on Canopus, restoring all the damaged caused by the heat-rays. The Righteous banks away through the rain. Several ducks run around celebrating in the rain. The duck in the inner tube in his swimming pool sits calmly as the pool fills back up, and goes back to reading his newspaper. Plants regrow and flowers blossom. SCENE 18 - Back on Saurian. A new section of the Obelus opens up. A Samurai Lizard hits a gong and a procession of Lizards carrying staves exits. They are followed by Sly Leezard, being carried on a portable throne. He, too, is holding a large ceremonial staff. SLY The ducks are weak! To Canopus, where I shall be king! He thumps his chest triumphantly. On a ledge above him, Deadeye, Willy and Kamikazee Kamo appear. Kamo throws a net down over him, quickly trapping him, and then the three of them haul him up to where they are before his men can do anything. KAMIKAZEE You're going to Canopus, all right. As my prisoner! Sly struggles in the net as they suddenly hear a deep, commanding voice from offscreen. SAMURAI COMMANDER No! They turn as several other Samurai Lizards appear. These are different from Sly and his men, lacking frills and wearing gold armor with helmets. Leading them is the Supreme Samurai Lizard Commander. He wears a long red cape. SAMURAI COMMANDER No duck may touch a Samurai and live! KAMIKAZEE He is not a true Samurai, Supreme Commander! A Samurai keeps his word of honor! SAMURAI COMMANDER What you say is true. KAMIKAZEE But Sly Leezard broke his vow to me! Willy steps forward and addresses the Samurai Commander bravely himself. WILLY And to me! The Commander looks at Sly, who is halfway out of the net by now. SAMURAI COMMANDER Is this as they say, Sly Leezard? SLY Of course! I had to! It was the only way to conquer Canopus! The Commander is enraged. SAMURAI COMMANDER Nothing is as sacred as a Samurai's honor! And for violating it, you must be punished! He draws his sword and points at Sly with it. SAMURAI COMMANDER Take him! Two of the Commander's warriors come forward and grab Sly. SLY No! Please! I'd rather be that duck's prisoner! NOOOOOOOO!!! They carry him off. The Commander turns to Deadeye, Willy and Kamo, sheathing his sword. SAMURAI COMMANDER As for the rest of you, you are free to go. But, if ever you set foot on my planet again, you have my word we will do battle. He turns and leads his warriors away. WILLY I have a feeling he'll keep his word. KAMIKAZEE I guarantee it! They hear the sound of an approaching ship and turn. DEADEYE It's Bucky! The Righteous Indignation flies overhead, circling low over the Obelus. Deadeye takes out the communicator. Bucky's voice can be heard over it. BUCKY (through the radio) Satellites destroyed! Canopus III is wet 'n' wild! We're comin' down! DEADEYE Aye, Cap'n, and not a second too soon! The Righteous lands and they head over to it. SCENE 19 - The Toad Homeworld. The Air Marshall is trudging alone down the long hallway to Komplex's inner sanctum, talking to himself, rehearsing a speech. AIR MARSHALL I've returned, Komplex, to ask for your forgiveness. No! *BEG* for your forgiveness, and to allow me another opportunity to serve you. I'll ever start as a lowly Storm Toad. He stops, holding his head in horror. AIR MARSHALL No! I take that back! Not a Storm Toad! Anything *BUT* a Storm Toad! He continues walking and reaches the doorway to the inner sanctum. AIR MARSHALL (sighs) Well, all right, *EVEN* a Storm Toad... The door opens and he enters. Komplex's face appears on multiple screens around the room. KOMPLEX You requested an audience? A spotlight falls on the terrified Air Marshall as he addresses the nearest of the screens, which is suspended from the ceiling. AIR MARSHALL (stammering) Well, I-I-I--Yes, I, um, *AHEM!* I wanted to-- KOMPLEX (cutting him off) Nevermind! I'm reassigning you to the rank of air marshall. AIR MARSHALL You are? KOMPLEX Your first assignment is to return to the Planet Crystal. Acquire another supply of crystalline. AIR MARSHALL Sir, if you don't mind my asking, what happened to... Frix and Frax? KOMPLEX They're waiting for you. The screens fizzle out. SCENE 20 - Frix and Frax are alone on the Planet Crystal, hacking away with pickaxes. They're back in their old uniforms. They stop to catch their breath, sweating. FRAX I told ya Komplex would ask about the ship! Frix glares at him. FRIX Shut up and keep diggin'! They resume working. THE END
